Etymology
Possibly connected with Burmese [script needed] (khrû, “a kind of mermaid”) and Tibetan ཀླུ (klu, “serpent, naga”) (Schuessler, 2007). However, Schuessler (2007) notices phonological differences between Old Chinese and Written Tibetan.
