If you're not a fan of the music on the in-game stereo, or just want to mix it up a little, there's a way to put your own music into the game. This wikiHow will teach you how to add custom music to The Sims 4.

Steps

  1. 1
Find the music you want. You can only add .mp3 files to the game, and they can't be any larger than 320kbit/s.
  2. 2
Access your Custom Music folder. If you've installed your game in the default location, your Custom Music folder will be located in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Custom Music (regardless of whether you're on Windows or Mac).

  3. 3
Choose the station you want the music to be in. Inside the Custom Music folder, there will be multiple folders that correspond with the genres on the radio. Pick any folder you want - it doesn't need to be the actual genre for the song.
    • For example, if you want a song to play on the Pop station, you would put the file into Custom Music > Pop.
    • Putting music directly into the Custom Music folder won't work, nor will creating a new folder. You'll need to pick a preexisting genre.
  4. 4
Copy the music file(s) from the original location. Either right-click the file and select Copy, or select the file(s) and press Ctrl+C ( Cmd+C on a Mac).
    • You can't make a shortcut to the audio file - the game can't read it.
  5. 5
Paste the file(s) into the genre subfolder. Open the subfolder in the Custom Music folder, and either right-click and select Paste or hit Ctrl+V ( Cmd+V on a Mac). The file(s) you copied should appear in the folder.
  6. 6
Start your game. Enter a save file, turn on the stereo, and select the relevant station to see if your music works.
    • You may have to adjust the stereo's volume to hear the music.
    • Some players can find and test their custom music by accessing Game Settings, and then clicking the Music tab. However, other players report the file not showing up, or showing up with a blank name. If this happens to you, test it on the stereo.

Tip: Your custom music will be shared with the preexisting audio for that station, but those tracks can be disabled individually in the "Game Settings" menu.
