Due to an increase in cholesterol and cardiac related illnesses, oil free cooking has recently become very popular. Oil free does not necessarily imply taste free. A simple, exquisitely easy way to prepare your fish fillets without the use of cooking oil or butter.
Ingredients
- 1 kilogram of fish fillets (frozen or fresh). Thinner slices are preferable.
- Salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon of any other preferred spice or seasoning
- 1 tablespoon of any sauce ( tomato, mustard, chili sauce etc)
- 1 large onion ( white or red)
- Half cup of grated cheese
Steps

1Allow fillets to thaw if they are frozen.

2Slice fillets into smaller cubes or pieces.Advertisement

3To a shallow pan, add 2 cups of water.

4Bring water to a boil.

5Slice onions into rings and add to boiling water.

6Now add sliced fillet into pan.

7Add spices, sauce and salt into fillet and onion mix.

8Allow to cook until ALMOST all the water evaporates.

9The fish fillets and spices should now be nearly fully cooked.

10Add grated cheese and allow to simmer on low heat.

11Gently turn each piece of fillet, such that the cheese blends into fillets on both sides.

12Allow to cool.

13Garnish with a few sprigs of fresh coriander (optional)

14Can be served with rice, bread or eaten on its own.
