How to Sign Up for AmazonSmile

Nonprofit organizations usually rely on volunteers and donations to keep the organization funded, but there's a passive way to collect donations, using AmazonSmile. When people purchase through AmazonSmile, Amazon donates 0.5% of that purchase to the nonprofit selected. This wikiHow will show you how to sign up for AmazonSmile as a charity and how to use AmazonSmile as a customer.

Using AmazonSmile

Go to https://smile.amazon.com/ in a web browser. You can access the website on a computer, a phone, or tablet.
- You can't use the mobile application to shop through AmazonSmile. You must make your purchase through https://smile.amazon.com/ in a web browser.
- Log in if prompted.

Click Supporting:. You'll see this below the large search bar. A window will pop open as you hover over the link.
- If you are using a mobile browser, you might see the option for this at the bottom of the page.

Click Change. You'll see this blue text next to the current organization's name. When you click this, you'll be directed to a page with recommendations for charities to support, like the American Red Cross or Best Friends Animal Society.
- You can also use the bar below the recommendations to search for a charity.

Click Select …. You will see a confirmation notification at the top of the Your Account page that your organization has changed.^{[1]

Signing Up For AmazonSmile

Go to the AmazonSmile Org Central page at https://org.amazon.com/ref=smi_se_saas_org_org. To sign up for AmazonSmile, you must be an official representative of your organization.
- Organizations must be registered as a 501(c)(3).
- Organizations must be located in the United States.

Click Register Now. You'll see this yellow button next to the large image in the middle of the page.

Search for your organization by name or EIN. You can use the Enter key on your keyboard or click the Search button to start the search.

Click Register next to the name of your organization. The address is listed as well so you can make sure it's the right organization.
- If the organization is listed as "Already Registered", contact Amazon.

Create an Organization Administrator account. You'll be prompted to provide your name, contact email, and position title to accurately represent your organization on AmazonSmile.
- You'll need to accept the AmazonSmile Participation Agreement. Make sure you read it completely before accepting it.

Verify your email address. This is most likely going to be an email address with your organization.
- To verify, you'll need to click a link inside an email sent from AmazonSmile to the email you provided.

Enter your organization's bank account information. To get paid for each visit, you'll need to link a bank account to your AmazonSmile account.

Upload a copy of a voided check or bank statement to verify that bank account information. You'll need to confirm the accuracy of the bank account information you entered earlier, so showing documents with that bank account information that wasn't written by you will verify it.^{[2]
