On Minecraft PE, you can't dye leather armor at the crafting table, like in the Java edition. This is the way you do it in the mobile version.

Steps

  1. 1
Get the armour out of the inventory, along with a cauldron a bucket of water and a dye of your choice. The armour and bucket of water are located in the tab that looks like a sword, the cauldron is located in the tab that looks like a bookshelf, and the dye is located in the tab that looks like seeds.
  2. 2
Place the cauldron on a surface. Cauldrons can be destroyed or reused once you are done, and you can have more than one at the same time. You could create an infinite water source if you live in a 'Taiga Forest' or 'Dense Taiga' forest because the rain level is high unlike in deserts, the rain level is low.

  3. 3
Select the bucket of water and tap the cauldron. The cauldron should fill up with water. If not, try again and see what happens. If you want a eco friendly but harder option you can dig a hole to direct sky and wait for it to rain. Rain will fill up cauldrons. Be careful not to stand near the cauldron; (1 block) as the rain will land on you not the cauldron in order to fill it.
  4. 4
Select your dye and do the same as you did with the water. The contents of the cauldron should change to the colour of your selected dye.
  5. 5
Select one item of armour (It has to be leather) and tap on the cauldron. The piece of armour should change to the colour of your dye. Repeat with the rest of the items.

No, you simply tap the cauldron, and the more water you use up, the brighter the resulting color will be. There is enough water for four taps.
