กำหนด

From Old Khmer kaṃmnat, kāṃnata (“to appoint, to determine, to fix, to set; direction, instruction; note, record, reminder; observation, remark; etc”), extended forms of Old Khmer kat, *kat, kata (“to mark down; to note down; to record; to register”), from which Thai กฎ (gòt) was derived. Cognate with Modern Khmer កំណត់ (kɑmnɑt).

กำหนด • (gam-nòt)

1. appointment; determination; fixation; specification.
2. appointed time; deadline; time limit; time period.
   • Exodus 7:25, KJV:

     ครบกำหนดเจ็ดวันนับตั้งแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงบันดาลให้แม่น้ำเป็นเลือด

     króp gam-nòt jèt wan náp dtâng-dtɛ̀ɛ prá yee-hoo-waa song ban-daan hâi mɛ̂ɛ-náam bpen lʉ̂ʉat

     And seven days were fulfilled, after that the LORD had smitten the river.
     (literally) Fulfilled was the period of seven days after Lord Jehovah had turned the river into blood.

     เพราะฉะนั้น พวกท่านจงปฏิบัติตามกฎพิธีนี้ตามกำหนดทุก ๆ ปีไป

     sǎan gam-nòt hâi kûu-kwaam yʉ̂ʉn èek-gà-sǎan paai-nai sìi-sìp-bpɛ̀ɛt wan

     The court requires the parties to submit documents within forty-eight days.
