- Unknown. Schuessler (2007) compared 巴 (OC prâ) to
- Lao [script needed] (ŋuuᴬ⁴ kǎbaaᴬ³, “a kind of viper”), with ງູ (ngū, “snake”) and [script needed] (kǎ, “possible animal prefix”); as well as to
- Proto-North-Bahnaric *qbǎyh (ibid.) "snake" (or *bəs; Sidwell, 2011).
- Compare also the PNB word's descendants Halang bèh, Sedang pah, Jeh bàjh; as well as Khmer ពស់ (pŭəh), Central Nicobarese pai(ch) ~ pai(j) (“venomous snake”) (Shorto, 2006:#1921), Car Nicobarese pēch, from Proto-Mon-Khmer *ɓəs (“snake”).
