This wikiHow teaches you how to look up a Tumblr blog by searching for a user's name, the blog name, the user's email address, or related categories. While you can't follow specific people on Tumblr the way you can on Twitter or Facebook, you can follow their blogs.

Open Tumblr. It's a dark-blue app with a white "t" on it. This will open your Tumblr dashboard if you're already logged into Tumblr.
- If you aren't logged into Tumblr, enter your Tumblr email address and password to log in.

Tap the magnifying glass icon. It's at the bottom of the screen. Doing so will open a search bar and bring up your phone's keyboard.

Type in the name of a blog. Alternatively, you can type in a person's name or a blog URL, as long as the information matches what's on their blog.
- If you aren't looking for a specific person to follow, type in a keyword like "gaming" (or, more specifically, something like "dark souls 3 art").

Tap Search. It's in your phone's keyboard. This will search Tumblr for your specified blog, person, or keyword.

Tap More Tumblrs. It's at the bottom of the "TOP TUMBLRS" section. This allows you to view all search results that redirect to blogs.

Follow the blog you were looking for. Tap Follow in the top-right corner of a blog's card. After doing so, the blog's posts will appear in your Tumblr dashboard.

Open Tumblr. Go to https://www.tumblr.com/. This will open your Tumblr dashboard page if you're already logged in.
- If you aren't logged in, click Log In, enter your email address and password, and click Log In.

Click the profile icon. It's a person-shaped silhouette in the top-right side of the dashboard. Clicking it prompts a drop-down menu.

Click Following. You'll find this near the top of the drop-down menu.

Click the "Follow" text field. It's in the middle of the page, just below the "Following # Tumblrs" heading.
- If you aren't searching for a specific person, you can instead click the search bar in the top-left side of the page.

Type in a blog name, URL, or email address. Make sure you spell whatever you type here exactly the way it appears on the blog (or in the email).
- If you're using the search bar, you can also type in a keyword (e.g., dogs) to search for blogs that fit a theme.

Click Follow. It's on the right side of the "Follow" search bar. This will automatically follow the blog in question.
- If you're using the search bar instead, press ↵ Enter and then click Follow next to a blog you want to follow.

Would they get a notification? If so, is there any way to make that not the case?

If you're talking about following a user, yes they will receive a notification. For them to not receive a notification they would have to turn it off in their own personal settings.
Question

Will the person who is being searched know they're being searched due to use of password and email?

Community Answer

No, they won't know your email or password. They will not know you are searching for them.

Warnings

You can only follow 5000 blogs. Once you reach the 5000 blog limit, you must either unfollow some of the blogs or create a new account to begin following more blogs.
