A simple guide so you can stop Instagram from using your location

Using an iPhone

    Open your iPhone's Settings. Settings is the grey gear icon on the Home Screen.

    Scroll down and tap Instagram. It's toward the bottom of the screen.
    • If you can't find Instagram anywhere in Settings, it isn't using your location.

    Tap Location. This option is at the top of the Instagram page.

    Tap Never. Doing so will ensure Instagram never has access to your location, rather than being able to access your location while you're using the app.

Using an Android

    Open your Android's Settings. This is the grey gear in your App Drawer or one of your Home Screens.

    Scroll down and tap Location. It's under the "Personal" heading.

    Slide the Location switch left. It will turn grey. Doing this will disable location services for all apps on your Android, which will in turn prevent Instagram from being able to use your location information.

  • Disabling location settings on an Android also means you won't be able to use some Google features that rely on location information.
