Section 2 of 2:

What are mutual friends and how do I hide them?

  1. 1
Mutual friends are friends that you have in common with the person viewing your profile. For example, when Sally visits your page, she sees your friends that she is also friends with, like John. Even if you've hidden your friends list, your mutual friends will appear, unless everyone else also hides their friends lists.
    • So if you and John set your friends lists to "Only Me," Sally will not see any mutual friends when she visits your page.
  2. 2
You cannot hide your mutual friends list easily. You'll need to ask your friends to set their lists to "Only Me" as well in order to hide your mutual friends on Facebook. Fortunately, changing the privacy of these lists is easy to do on Android, PC or Mac, and iPhone.
