- of Austroasiatic origin, compare Proto-Mon-Khmer *graŋ (“hill, peak”) (Schuessler, 2007), whence Mon [script needed] (krɛ̀aŋ, “peak”) and Old Khmer grāṅ (“hill on flat land”).
