- Variation on the Japanese copula だ (da), associated with Kansai dialect, particularly Ōsaka. The use of や (ya) is common in fictional dialogue attributed to characters from Ōsaka.
- まあ、ぼちぼちやなあ。
- Mā, bochibochi ya nā.
- Well, things are slow. (a stereotypical Ōsaka expression)
